Candidate Filing Period for the 2024 Presidential General Election begins on Monday, July 15

Eligible citizens interested in seeking local office can file candidacy documents with the Registrar of Voters. 

SANTA ANA, CA – July 1, 2024 – Starting Monday, July 15, 2024, those persons interested in running for one of about 125 local school and special district offices up for election in the 2024 Presidential General Election can begin the candidate filing process online or at the Registrar of Voters’ office.

To view the full list of school and special district offices on the ballot for the November 5, 2024 Presidential General Election visit: ocvote.gov/elections/whats-on-the-ballot.

To qualify for one of the offices up for election, a candidate shall be a registered voter in the district and, if applicable, in the trustee area or director division.

Eligible citizens can download many of the required candidacy documents by using the Registrar of Voters Candidate Filing Portal on our website (ocvote.gov/candidates), prior to filing the documents at the Registrar of Voters’ office.

The Registrar of Voters also issues candidacy documents at its office, 1300 S. Grand Ave., Building C in Santa Ana, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Candidates must file these completed forms in that office no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024.

Those interested in filing for candidacy can save time by scheduling an appointment online at ocvote.gov/appointments to complete the candidate filing process. Appointments will be available in the morning and evening.

Those interested in running for one of about 80 city offices up for election must pick up and file candidate documents at the appropriate City Clerk’s office during regular business hours.
